SKITIPS2007-02-16-1171665847.jpgLast week John Stehlin and Vic Antonelli from Holiday Valley showed beginners the "V" where skiers controled themselves going down the hill and keeping themselves low.

The most important thing, in all aspects of skiing and one of the secrets of skiing on more difficult pitches is simply controlling the speed by turning the skies. Many times people begin a turn, but don't bring it all the way through to get to comfortable speed before they start making another one. If you're really focused on guiding the front of the ski and making the front do what you want, its very simple. The front of the ski is everything from your heal forward and not heal backward. Much of the movement is moving the skies down the hill instead of pushing the skies away. As you start turning the front down, simply guide them to a point where you are completely comfortable before the next turn begins...think of it as turning both feet. Don't lean forward or backwards always flex over the feet comfortably.
