Tara's artistry is taking off under the guidance of Kristen Shiner McGuire, the head of Percussion Studies at Nazareth College. McGuire says Tara is committed to excellence in all things----especially her music. "I hope she gets to perform and teach and make music a part of her life," says McGuire, "because it's really a privilege to live your life as an artist if that's what you want and not everybody can because it can be difficult. But Tara has all the ingredients."
Tara plans on majoring in percussion in college. Besides the marimba, she plays drums and timpany. Her love of music started with the piano 10 years ago. She's a leading musician at Fairport High School....and also plays at church. In seminars and conventions from Ohio to Texas, she's travelled far to hone her musical skills. She isn't just passionate about piano. Tara loves the marimba! "It also has a different sound, a more mellow, more warm and beautiful sound," she says. "I really want to perform professionally in a symphony or military band or any type of band really, that I can travel and have a steady job. I also want to teach and have my own studio." Tara considers her music a gift...and lucky for everyone, she's not about to keep it to herself. "It's pleasing," she says. "It's a lot of fun to play."
