"We wanted to take this opportunity to not only help Rochester celebrate Black History Month, but to honor some of the amazing films, directors and actors of our time," said Executive Director Bob Russell.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner One of the must see films of all time. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn play a couple whose attitudes are challenged when their daughter brings home a black fiancé played by Sidney Poitier. Hepburn won an Oscar for her role in this 1967 romantic drama.

Considered by many, one of Spike Lee's best films, Get on the Bus follows several Black men on a cross country bus trip to the Million Man March. On the bus are an eclectic set of characters including a laid off aircraft worker, a former Gang Banger, a Hollywood actor, a cop who is of mixed racial background, and a White bus driver, all make the trek discussing issues surrounding the march, manhood, religion, politics and race.

The Color Purple (PG-13) Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker, this film follows the life of Celie, a young black girl growing up in the early 1900's. The first time we see Celie, she is 14 - and pregnant - by her father. We stay with her for the next 30 years of her tough life. The award winning cast includes Whoopi Goldberg <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000155/>, Oprha Winfrey, Danny Glover, and Margaret Avery.

Ticket prices are $8 Tuesday - Saturday evenings, $5 Monday evenings, $6 for weekend matinees and $5 for students Sunday - Thursday. More information is available online at www.thelittle.org or at (585) 258-0400.
