My name is Karen R. Ward and I am the CEO and an author with Gracious Hands Literary Company in Rochester. Our company which was founded in 1997, have provided educational events throughout the Rochester, NY community. This is our ten year anniversary of providing educational services for the Rochester community.
The second book in which I wrote entitled, "It's All About School," was written to encourage youth to not only graduate from school, but also to develop future goals upon graduation. The book consist of such topics as: teen pregnancy, gang involvement, conflict resolution, HIV/AIDS, bullying, as well as positive youth role models, to name a few. This book has been newly revised and updated to include open discussion questions, advice from educators and youth comments. A few of the educators included in the newly revised book includes Rochester's former police chief Dr. Cedic Alexander, and Mr. Victor Gonzalez, who is the Director of the Anti-Gang program in the Houston Texas Mayor's Office. To top it off, all of the book's inside graphic illustrations were drawn by youth from Rochester.Gracious Hands Literary Company will be presenting a Youth Book Give-A-Way and a Educational Youth Talent Showcase on Saturday, January, 13, 2007 at Mood Makers Books. At this upcoming youth and family event, our company will be giving away complimentary copies of the listed educational book to youth (ages 10-19) who pre-register for a book copy, prior to this event. Book supplies are limited. Cannon Industries, Inc. of Rochester, is the major funder in book donations for this upcoming event. Our goal is to assist youth throughout the Rochester area, in obtaining a copy of the book, through Rochester business and community donations. We plan to have a continuous Youth Book Give-A-Way every 3-4 months.
