The San Antonio Rampage sneak out of Rochester with a 2-1 victory over the Americans tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss drops the Amerks to 17-29-0-4 on the season.
The Rampage were led by David Spina and Adam Perry, who each registered a goal in tonights contest to earn third and first star honors of the game, respectively. Goalender Al Montoya stopped 25 of 26 shots faced to earn the games second star.
The Amerks were led by forward Michal Repik who netted the only goal for the Amerks tonight. Repik has now scored in four straight games and has at least a point in his last five. Over the past five games, Repik has tallied six points (4+2).
Spina broke the scoreless tie at the 17:39 mark of the second as he knocked in a rebound through the five-hole of Amerks goalie Tyler Plante. Assisting on Spina’s 13th goal of the season was Alexander Nikulin and Jeff May. The Rampage took a 2-0 lead when Perry scored his first goal of the season on a costly turnover at the 2:58 mark of the third.
Repik snapped the shutout for the Rampage at the 17:35 mark of the third, with the help of Shawn Matthias and Michael Duco, to bring the Amerks to within one. That was as close as the Amerks would get as their late comeback fell short for the second time in the last three games.
Rochester kicks off its season-high five-game road trip on Tuesday, February 10th as it travels to Wells Fargo Arena to battle the Iowa Chops.
