The Rochester Americans got blanked by the Syracuse Crunch 4-0 tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss drops the Amerks to 15-25-0-3 on the season. It also snaps the Amerks two game winning streak. This season the Amerks are 2-4-0-0 against the Clumbus Blue Jakets affiliate.
The Crunch were led by Dan Lacosta who stopped 29 of 29 shots to earn his second shut out of the season and the games second star honors. Kevin Harvey had two assist in the game to earn the games first star.
With the two man advantage the Crunch struck first when Derek MacKenzie was sitting on Amerks goalie Mike Brodeur back door step and knocked the puck into the empty net. Assisting on the Crunch power play goal was Mike York and Aaron Rome at the 1:27 mark of the second. The Crunch extended their lead to two on a tic-tac-toe passing play where Ryan Garlock finished the play off when he flung the puck in the back of the net.
In the third the Crunch took a 3-0 lead when Mike Blunden took a shot and John Vigilante followed up the shot and knocked the rebound past Brodeur. The Crunch put the game away just under three minute later when Steve Kelly netted his eighth goal of the season at the 13:09 mark of the third.
