The Rochester Americans fell to the Binghamton Senators 4-2 tonight at The Broome County Veteran Memorial Arena. The loss drops the Amerks to 12-23-0-3 on the season. The loss also snaps the Amerks three-game winning streak.
Leading the way for the Senators was former Amerk Denis Hamel who tallied four points (2+2) in the contest. Greg Mauldin (1+2) and Peter Regin (0+3) both had three points in the game for the Senators.
The Amerks struck first blood when Janis Sprukts netted his eigth goal of the season at the 5:39 mark of the first. Assisting on the play was Michal Repik and Tanner Glass.
At the 15:16 mark of the first the Senators got the equlizer when Derek Smith scored his third goal of the season. Just 51 seconds into the second the Sentators struck again when Hamel beat Amerk goalie Mike Brodeur for his 11th goal of the season. Regin got the assist for his second point of the night.
The Amerks knotted the game at two a piece on Drew Larman’s thrid of the season. Assisting on the play was Neil Clark in his first game back with the Amerks and Keaton Ellerby at the 10:54 mark of the second
The Sentators took the lead back at the 13:27 mark of the second as Hamel scored his second goal of the game on the power play. The Senators extended their lead to 4-2 when Mauldin scored his sixth of the season.
The Amerks return to The Blue Cross Arena tomorrow night to face the Hamilton Bulldogs. Face-off is at 6:05 p.m.
