The Rochester Americans fell to the Manitoba Moose 5-1 tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. The Moose had multiple players with two points tonight to defeat the Amerks. Karl Goehring had an excellent night in goal for the Moose who stopped 26 of 27 shots on goal to earn him third star honors. Jason Jaffray scored twice tonight to earn himself first star honors. The loss drops the Amerks to 2-11-0-0 on the season. The Moose were first to strike at the 2:50mark of the first when Jason Jaffray put his team leading tenth point of the year in the back of the net. Jaffray’s goal was assisted by Darryl Bootland. The Amerks pulled even when Michael Duco netted his fourth goal of the season at the 10:10 mark of the first. Duco beat the Moose goalie, Karl Goehring over his right shoulder on a one-timer from Michal Repik and Keaton Ellerby. The Moose retook the lead at the 12:45 mark of the first when James Neal beat Chris Beckford-Tseu over his right arm. Assisting on Neal’s second goal of the season was Mario Bliznak and Guillaume Desbiens. At the 17:56 mark of the second the Moose made it 3-1 when Jaffray netted his second goal of the game. On the power play the Moose added an insurance goal when Mark Cullen scored his second point of the game when he took a slap shot from the point. Cullen’s fourth goal of the season was assisted by Lawrence Nycholat and Jason Krog. The Moose made it 5-1 when Desbiens scored a short-handed goal at the 15:01 mark of the third. Rochester completes its homestand on Friday, November 14th as the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves make their first and only visit this season to The Blue Cross Arena. Faceoff is 7:35pm.
