Wednesday, the family's doctor, Derek Bell, talked mostly about treating nine month old Mara Ogg. Bell said treating her was an uphill battle, and called her recovery a miracle, "it's a huge success and it's precious, it makes me feel really privileged to have the opportunity to do what I do and potentially have such an impact on patients lives."
Bell says Mara was brought to the hospital with third degree burns and damage to her lungs from inhaling smoke. She was on a breathing machine for some time while her lungs healed, and she had to have skin grafts. Bell says now Mara's outlook for the future is good, and first responders played a big part in that, "if they didn't do what they did, certainly seconds count in that circumstance, and they did with everybody involved in this fire, I think if Mara was in the house for a couple seconds longer then she probably wouldn't be with us today."
Mara's brother R.J., who is four years old, and her grandmother were also hurt in the fire. They have been released from the hospital.
