Assault Weapons Ban Removed From Senate Gun Control Bill

A ban on assault weapons will not be part of a larger gun control bill on Capitol Hill in Washington.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says the ban does not have enough votes to get through Congress. A proposal to expand background checks is also struggling to gain enough support. The bill Democrats introduced next month will likely include stiffer penalties for gun trafficking and more money to improve school safety.
