Brooks To County Employees: Support The United Way

County Executive Maggie Brooks is making a plea to county employees, asking them to help those in our community that need it the most, "service organizations that receive funding from the United Way answer the call of hundreds of thousands of those in need in our community," explained Brooks, "they answer the calls for help from children, families, seniors, persons with disabilities, this is important."

Brooks says in a time when counties are strapped for cash, supporting the United Way is critical.  The organization provides funding for preventative and supportive programs in Monroe County. 

The United Way says their programs have been proven to work, especially when it comes to education, "the district came back to us and we've never been able to do this before, for that cohort of 3,000 kids, bottom line results, those children had better grade point averages, better attendance, more pro social behavior," explained Peter Carpino, CEO of the United Way of Rochester.


The county has set a $360,000 goal for this year's United Way campaign.  Brooks says she's confident the county will not only achieve the goal, she believes they'll exceed it, as they have in year's past.
