Monday, a neighborhood in the village of Victor was in lock down. Luckily a standoff ended peacefully and tonight a man is behind bars. 31-year-old Ryan Whidden is facing weapons charges.
Police say he barricaded himself and his wife inside their victor home on Ketchum Street. Police say he had a loaded handgun but no pistol permit. Whidden's wife, 45 year old Nina Whidden, was not injured. Both she and Ryan walked out of the house after police released tear gas into the home just before 9 o'clock Monday night. Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero credits the way multiple police agencies worked in concert to end the nearly twelve hour standoff peacefully.
"The planning that goes into these types of operations really showed. And that effort, that hard work and training and getting people together really produced a very positive and peaceful result and ending," said Phil Povero, Ontario County Sheriff.
Ryan Whidden is being held in the Ontario County jail on $250,000 bail.
