Mynderse Romps To Sectional Title

Luke Ruddy scored 18 points to lead (2)Mynderse to a 65-45 win over (5)Avon in the Class C1 Sectional Final Saturday afternoon at Blue Cross Arena.

Jimmy Ricci had 13 points, Jason Anderson added 12 and Brandon Passalacqua chipped in 11 for the Blue Devils. Connor Miller also had eight points and 11 boards.

Mynderse led by 18 points at the half, holding Avon to 25% shooting and forcing 11 turnovers in the first two quarters alone.

Galen Snyder led the Braves with ten points.

Passalacqua won MVP in the second Mynderse championship run over the last three years.

Mynderse will next play Clyde-Savannah on Monday at Waterloo High School in the first round of state qualifiers. The winner of that game moves on to face Lyons Wednesday at Blue Cross Arena for the right to be Section Five's state representative at Class C.
