Skyler Gausney-Jones finished with a game-high 26 points. The game was tied at 20 at halftime, but thanks in large part to Gausney-Jones's 12 points, the Lady Kings led 35-25 after three quarters and never looked back.
The game started off very slow, as the Lions played tremendous defense forcing the Kings to that horrific shooting start. But Kearney held their ground, only allowing 4 points on their defense in what looked to be a defensive slugfest. Kharysma Bryant got Kearney going, though and gave them a 5-4 lead late in the first before the quarter ended 7-5 in favor of the Kings.
The offenses began to pick up and so did the tempo, which favored Kearney but Lyons hung around, mostly thanks to Abbie Shields, who finished with 13 points and 20 rebounds. But Kearney ended the second half on an 8-2 run to tie it at 20 going into the break.
