Music sales rose last year for the first time since 1999.

An industry trade group says revenue inched up just a third of a percent to $16.5 billion worldwide. The year 2012 marked the first time digital music out-sold physical CDs and other formats, accounting for 34 percent of overall income. The top-selling single around the world was Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," while Adele's "21" was the biggest-selling album for the second year in a row.
