Updated: February 21, 2013
A local and vocal pastor wants a seat in City Hall, and he has tapped a former Rochester mayor as his campaign manager.

Rev. Marlowe Washington is expected to announce his intent to run for Rochester City Council Thursday evening. Washington has garnered the support of former mayor Bill Johnson, who will serve as chairman of his campaign. Washington is the pastor of Christ Community Church in Rochester. He is also a community activist with a special interest in educational reform. Washington is a Democrat and is among those who pushed for mayoral control of city schools when the matter came up in the state legislature in 2009.
