On a day when the Buffalo Sabres fired Lindy Ruff and took Ron Rolston from his coaching job in Rochester to the NHL, the news of Chadd Cassidy taking over the reigns with the Amerks may get overlooked.

Cassidy, who is the Amerks head coach on an interim basis, has been the Amerks assistant coach for the last two seasons. He's worked with Ron Rolston since 2006, when he joined his staff at the USA Hockey National Team Development Program.

Chadd Cassidy's was last a head coach back in 2005 at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, NY. He held that position for four seasons.

Cassidy served as an assistant coach at State University of New York at Cortland from 1999-2001 and Potsdam State for the 2001-2002 season. A 1995 graduate of Cortland State, Cassidy earned his bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies while playing on the varsity hockey team.
