Office Depot and Office Max are reportedly in merger talks.
Shares of the rival office supply chains soared in pre-market trading Tuesday. Office Depot has 1,262 worldwide and 39,000 employees. Office Max has 978 stores and 29,000 employees. The two are dwarfed by Staples, which operates 2,248 stores worldwide.
