Wegmans Preparing For East Ave. Demolition

The countdown has begun. The Wegmans on East Avenue will close at 6 p.m. Saturday to make room for the brand new building.
The store is starting to look like a ghost town as they empty shelves and close down sections. The old Wegmans will be torn down to make way for the new Wegmans being built right behind it. The new store will have a sit-down Italian restaurant and the usual market cafe. Opening day for the new Wegmans is May 19th.
The demolition at Wegmans brings some minor changes to the city bus route. The RTS bus system will temporarily close the bus stop right in front of the store during demolition. RTS advises travelers to use the bus stop on East Avenue and Park Avenue. For alternate bus routes, click here.
