Local area robotics clubs are gearing up for a big competition. Penfield's robotics team, "rolling thunder" held the 9th Rochester Rally. It's a scrimmage before this year's first competition at RIT.

Teams from local high schools tested their robots before the event. They then helped each other make improvements.

"This is a chance for students to apply what they learn in school and puts it in context and gives them a better understanding of what they're doing," says Larry Lewis of Penfield Robotics.

Robots at Sunday's event needed to be able to throw frisbees and climb a pyramid.
