Sutherland led nearly the entire second half by no more than nine points and no less than two, but held on to beat their crosstown rivals from Mendon 67-62 at Mendon Monday night.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but postponed by the snowstorm.

Matt D'Amico actually had the best chance to tie the game for the Vikings with three minutes to go, but a three-pointer inexplicably spun out. The Vikings did not shoot the ball well, but did not get many breaks from the rim, either.

Jake Downs and Logan Hudson made late layups to help Sutherland hold on. Will Phelan hit a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter that gave Sutherland an eight point lead at 54-46.

Mendon came back and pulled to within three on Matt Sullivan's short jumper in the lane. The Vikings made enough shots to keep it interesting to the buzzer, but never got over the hump.
