Knighthawks Finally Get First Win

Matt Vinc made 42 saves and limited the high-scoring Washington
Stealth to six goals in a 7-6 victory tonight at The Blue Cross Arena.
Rochester earned its first win of the season to improve to 1-3. The
Stealth fell to 3-3 with the road loss.
Champion NASCAR driver Tony Stewart attended the game as a guest of Knighthawks owner Curt Styres. Stewart knows the Styres family after racing at their track named Ohsweken Speedway.
Johnny Powless netted the game-winning goal at 5:12 of the fourth quarter after Washington mounted a comeback with two two-goal surges to tie the contest at six. The 7-6 win was the lowest goal output in a Rochester win since the team edged the San Jose Stealth 8-7 on April 8, 2005.
The game was also part of Men's Health Night. Rochester wore special jerseys, which will be auctioned off on www.gobuyrochester.com to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. A Tony Stewart numbered, lettered and autographed jersey will be among the auction items.
The game was the first of three in eight days for the Knighthawks. Rochester visits Philadelphia for an 11:00 a.m. game on Friday, February 8th and ends the road trip with a 7:30 p.m. contest in Buffalo against the Bandits the following night.
