The city kicked off its "Gospel Fridays" series with noon-time performances from area gospel choirs. Friday's performance featured the Immaculate Conception Choir. The rest of the month will feature the Mount Olivet Baptist Church Choir, the School of the Arts Choir and Charlie Wells and the Original Voices of Clouds. You can catch the performances each Friday at 12:30 at City Hall.
"Gospel music really goes back centuries with African-Americans and we want people to feel the spirit and celebrate gospel music and what it means to African Americans," Rochester Black Heritage Committee member Shiera Coleman said.
All "Gospel Fridays" events are free and open to the public.
