The victory completed a two-day sweep of the top two teams in Class A by the Knights. McQuaid topped number-one seeded Pittsford 7-3 in the same building Friday night. Fairport began the weekend ranked number two.
Talty and Brian Wade scored 20 seconds apart in the second period to put McQuaid up 3-1. However, Fairport came back to tie. Alex Schoepfel poked in a rebound on a second period power play to pull the Raiders within one. Ryan Romeo then set up Max Gerling with five minutes to go in the third period to tie it.
McQuaid is now the top seed at Class A with a 13-3-1 record. Fairport falls to 12-4.
