Angie Davis, Holley Alternative High School

Our Golden Apple Award winner is well known in the Holley School District. Teaching Assistant Angie Davis has a gift for helping students who sometimes feel misunderstood.

Teacher's Assistant Angie Davis is good at preparing kids in Holley to take their next step. She's worked in the Elementary School, High School and now at the Alternative High School teaching Math.

"Angie's deserving of a Golden Apple Award because she's here every day, she's here for the students every day" say Principal Karri Schiavone. "Every day it's a fresh start for every single child who comes into the Alternative High School. She really understands every student in the program needs an individual program and they each need something a little bit different."

Senior Travis Finger was one of those kids. Travis says Miss Davis is the first teacher who really "gets" him. "My grades have gotten a lot better so I'm starting to do more successful in school. Angie Davis is one of the best teachers I know. She's always there for you in the classroom and at home she will home tutor you."

That's right. Angie Davis helps kids at school and even after school. "I think we're here to help them learn. And how do you get them to learn unless you are willing to go above and beyond. I just do what I can. I guess that's all. I think we all get our kids, I think we all love our kids and that is why we are here,. So I do, I absolutely love my job, I love coming here everyday and I do love all my kids."

Dear News 8,

    I am nominating my teacher Angie Davis for a Golden Apple Award because she not only is a great teacher helping students excel in the classroom, She is there for every student as if they were her own child .
    She has volunteered to tutor students at home whom have been suspended from school with an overall goal of helping that student succeed academically. She does everything in her might to help her students in school, weather it is finding an alternative way to help the student learn, to making learning interesting and easy for each individual student.
   Angie Davis keeps a positive attitude towards learning. Angie Davis goes way beyond in finding resources to help the student succeed. Angie Davis is the teacher who will always be there for you with an overall goal of academic success. Angie Davis is a perfect candidate for a Golden Apple Award.
