Martin Luther King Jr. Connected To Local Seminary

It turns out that Dr. King has connections to Rochester in the form of the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School.
King attended Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania from 1948 to 1951. The seminary later moved to Rochester and joined Colgate in 1970. Colgate still has a copy of King's admissions letter and his father's letter of recommendation. School officials say they are proud to hold such a historical connection.
"For us we're very proud to be able to have played a part in the education formation of such a leader; not only for human rights, but for all in terms of theological development in the United States at large," communications director Chris White said.
Dr. King's spiritual advisor, Howard Thurman, also graduated from Colgate in 1924.
