Across the country and here in New York State gun supporters are taking their stance in the national gun control debate.

A national campaign has named Saturday National Gun Appreciation Day. The campaign asks gun owners to head to gun shops and firing ranges to "send a loud and clear message to Congress and President Obama."

Meanwhile, Albany gun owners gathered at the Capitol for one of many firearm-rights demonstrations around the nation. Participants are protesting laws and proposals including New York's Safe Act that came after the school massacre in Newton, Connecticut.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has said lawmakers moved fast to forestall a potential potential buying spree of now-outlawed guns.
