If you haven't noticed by now, a new Wegmans on East Avenue is on its way and now there is an official opening date.

On May 19, you will be able to shop at the new and improved store, but first, the old East Avenue store must close for two months for demolition. That will happen in March.

"I'm going to have to go to West Henrietta or Pittsford. It's going to be a little longer," said Luke Lucwatelet.

"I worry because I work around the corner and my house is very close by so it's always been super convenient when I am running short on time to make dinner," said Jennifer Petix.

While the closing of the old Wegmans may be a inconvenience for some customers, others are excited about the new parking lot, which will have additional spaces.

"I'm excited. I hope there is going to be more parking available. Right now, it's a little crowded here and sometimes it can cause accidents," said Lucwatelet.

"Bigger store, more selection. The underground parking is definitely interesting.  It's just going to be a bigger, better store. More like a mega-Wegmans type of thing but closer to home," said Kelsey Farr.

The store will have a sit-down Italian restaurant and include the usual Market Cafe.
