Hidden along Lake Ontario's coastline is a beacon of light. Donald Town, or "Captain," is part lighthouse keeper, part bed and breakfast owner.
"Braddock Point lighthouse is a national treasure because it is a working lighthouse, the coast guard maintains it, it is still lit, it was re-lit many years ago," Town said.
This national treasure will become someone's dream vacation on the show where you all you have to do is come on down.
"Last August I got a call from Hollywood, California and they said it was a producer with The Price Is Right," Town said. "For many people they tell me it is on their bucket list to stay at a lighthouse."
Built in 1896, the Braddock Point lighthouse had the brightest light on the lake, ranging 14 miles. Storms damaged the original tower. Two-thirds of it was removed because it was in such poor condition of many years on the lake. The U.S government eventually sold it. Repairs were made. Don and his wife are the third family to own it.
"I didn't know that you could go buy a lighthouse," Town said.
The innkeeper's quarters remind you of a time gone by. There are three updated stately bedrooms and some hidden gems. Guests not only get to stay in the innkeeper's house but get a private tour of the 154-foot tower. Don hopes the game show draws in new faces.
"We don't know what is going to happen to our website if it's going to crash," he said.
Whoever gets to anchor at this unique B&B will get the stay of a lifetime.
"If they win the prize they are going to have an incredible experience, treat them like royalty," he said.
