If ever there was a game that illustrates the value of a captain, Pittsford's 3-2 overtime win over Greece Thunder did just that. Panthers captain Brad Sherman scored the game-tying goal with 2:13 left in the third period, then scored the game-winning goal with 1:09 left in overtime.
The first two periods were a battle of attrition which resulted in two scoreless frames. Mike Luccarelli got the scoring going early into the third to give Greece Athena/Odyssey a 1-0 lead, but moments later Greg Weyl scored for Pittsford to make it 1-1.
Jared Tam-Grimshaw scored wth around four minutes remaining to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead before Sherman scored the game's final two goals.
Pittsford moves to 9-2-1 with the win, while Greece Thunder fall to 8-4.
