Fans Thrilled For Wambach's Return

No one is more excited about hometown hero Abby Wambach's return to Rochester than her mom, "It is a great day for the Wambach's and we're just thrilled to have our daughter back in town and we're looking forward to a wonderful wonderful summer ahead of us," said Judy Wambach.

Wambach was just named FIFA World Player of the Year and won an Olympic gold medal over the summer.  Her performance inspired young soccer fans, especially here in her home town, "I've got two young daughters and we were just saying we'll absolutely go check out a game and to have that extra draw of someone they recognize," said soccer fan Nick Henry.

After seeing Abby play around the world fans can't wait to get a glimpse of her in the Flash uniform at Sahlen's Stadium, "probably the next best thing for Rochester especially for any sport around the area," said soccer fan Dena Merou, "so she'll definitely be the icon and the talk of the town and everyone will look forward for her to continue her career and be a success."

That will translate into ticket sales which is good news for the local economy, "I think it's great for the economy for us to bring people into the stadium," explained soccer fan Michael Wood, "to have food vendors around it brings money and it keeps money in this community."  Fan Justin Colombo added, "I think it's great that Abby's finally coming back to downtown Rochester, I think a lot of the storefronts down by the stadium will be impacted by it, and it will bring a lot more people to the games, I know I'm probably going to buy a few tickets."

Abby will play 11 home games in Rochester with the Flash.  The season will start in April.
