Many people spent New Years Day jogging, lifting weights, and breaking a sweat in an effort to fulfill their promise to get, or stay fit in 2013, "there's a lot more new faces around here it's pretty exciting," said Lee Wilson, a member at the Rochester Athletic Club, "hopefully it brings the energy of the gym up a little bit."  Bob Corby, another member at the gym has a goal to keep him motivated, "I've got my big 50th birthday is coming up in January, so that's an incentive for me to come here a lot."

The key to a healthy 2013 is making a lifestyle change, "you're not going to walk in here and within a couple of weeks really see a difference," explained Betsy Lundy, a personal trainer at the Rochester Athletic Club, "it takes time, it takes encouragement from other people, that's why we're here."

Some gym members say trying to live better one day at a time, instead of setting a goal once a year, has been working for them, "I try to look at one little thing at a time and try to adjust it," explained Michael Vasso, "that way it's more easy to do, I think, and more achievable that way."

Sticking with the goal of staying fit pays off, "I've lost 50 pounds since I started and I'm gaining a lot of it back in muscle," said Wilson.  Lundy added, "in my Zumba class I've seen women and men in the weight room and just the difference in their bodies is amazing, but they've really committed themselves, haven't given up."

Other popular resolutions include saving money, getting organized, and spending more time with family.
