Economists say that could send the economy back into recession. President Obama returned from his Christmas vacation in Hawaii early to be back in Washington and try to strike a deal with lawmakers. Congressional leaders are urging the Senate to consider a bill that has already passed in the House that would extend existing tax cuts.
