Investigators have discovered the remains of a human body inside one of the homes that burned to the ground during the Christmas Eve shooting of four firefighters.

Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering says the remains were discovered in the rubble of a home on Lake Road. It is the home of where suspected shooter William Spengler, 62, lived with his mother and sister. Investigators presume the remains to be that of Spengler's sister, Cheryl, whom has been missing since the incident. The remains have been taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's office to determine exact cause of death and positive identification.

Meanwhile, police have also released more information about Spengler. He was found with three firearms: a revolver, a 12-guage shotgun and a rifle. Investigators also discovered a two-to-three page, typewritten note from Spengler. In it he says, "I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down and do what I like doing best -- killing people."

The Lake Road area affected by the fire has been reopened and some residents are being allowed back in their homes. A total of 33 people were displaced by the fire, which destroyed seven homes and significantly damaged several others. Two firefighters remain in guarded condition at Strong Hospital.
