That was a plea made several months ago by the woman now accused of killing her husband. Sheriff Phil Povero says Rose Chase, 31, is charged with second degree murder.
"Based on the information we believe that Rose Chase intentionally killed Adam Chase," Povero said.
Rose allegedly pushed Adam down a flight of stairs after an argument at their home on Mott Road in Stanley. Deputies say Rose then took Adam's body to her mother's home on Hagerty Road in Potter, Yates County where she allegedly dismembered and cremated it.
"The remains in Potter are being examined by specialists in forensic pathology and they have not been identified as human remains are this time," Povero said.
The break in the case came from a private investigators hired by the Chase family. Deputies say he gathered the new details through conversations with Rose.
"Ultimately the defendant did make significant admissions which will be an important part of the criminal prosecution against her," Ontario County District Attorney Michael Tantillo said.
As Adam's family copes with the news, the sheriff offered his condolences.
"We are also saddened that the four year old son of Adam and Rose Chase will grow up without a father and most likely will grow up without a mother," Povero said.
Deputies believe Rose Chase acted alone, however they are still conducting interviews. She will back in court on December 19th
