Roc The Day supports nearly 700 non-profit agencies in Monroe County. It's all being done through United Way. This money helps fund organizations like Mary Cariola's Children Center, a local school serving children with disabilities.

Karen Zandi is the President and CEO of Mary Cariola's Children Center.

"There are costs that exceed the tuition. Some of the specific interventions are not reimbursed by tuition. That's why United Way dollars are so critical to us," Zandi said.

Zandi says these children have a variety of medical needs and require specific equipment. Some of the equipment is made in the school's workshop. This device allows students to stand and communicate with their peers during class. Efforts like Roc The Day help fund the program.

"They make the device for all of our children in three school buildings. The United Way funds support our pre-school program," Zandi said.

Last year Roc The Day raised more than $500,000 in Rochester's nine-county region. It teams up with non-profits serving animals, education and health to name of a few. It's donations that can make a big impact on a small child.

"It's very significant, parents needs the support, they need understanding and it's all individualized, Zandi says.

Roc The Day runs throughout midnight .
