Michael Mox pleaded guilty to manslaughter for beating and stabbing his father, Stephen Mox, 81, to death back in July of 2007. Court documents say that at the time of the crime, Mox said he was hearing voices and was in a psychotic state. But the court said his psychotic state disqualifies him for the charge of manslaughter, which includes an element of intent. Stephen Mox was found not breathing and covered in blood when sheriff deputies arrived at the scene.
The District Attorney's office has not yet determined if they will retry Mox.
