The donations you made to help out the victims of Superstorm Sandy in Freeport, New York have been delivered.
The North Greece Fire Department delivered the shipment to Nassau County over the weekend.
For nearly a month, the Town of Greece, the Greece Central School District, Ridge Road FD,Lake Shore FD, Barnard FD, Greece Volunteer Ambulance, the YMCA and the First Bible Baptist Church collected items to brighten the holidays.
Your donations packed a 27 foot long tractor trailer truck full of supplies.
The Department's Assistant Chief Skip Dorgan said he was blown away by the outpouring of support.
"We were literally getting (at this house alone) probably half-a-pickup truck load of stuff everyday. It was just unbelievable."
It took about 20 firefighters nearly an hour to unload all the donations.
Freeport also presented a thank you plaque to firefighters in recognition of their hard work. The two fire departments have been named "sister" organizations.
Our crews were there when the Department first provided relief on Long Island immediately after the storm.
