It's officially December and Rochester Mayor Tom Richards is kicking off the holiday season on Saturday night with the lighting of the Liberty Pole.

Santa Claus and Rudolph joined the mayor at the "Light Up the Holidays" event. Afterwards, families were invited to march to Manhattan Square Park and celebrate the official opening ceremony for the ice rink.

The lighting of the Liberty Pole and the Open Skate are the first festive events the mayor has planned for this month.
