Matt's Coat For Kids collected 676 coats, hats and gloves to give to families in need. In Brockport, they started distribution of the items they collected. Matt's Coats For Kids was started in 2004 in memory of Karen Leidig's son, who was killed in a tragic car accident nine years ago. She says this is a way to keep his memory alive.
"The last Christmas gift that we gave Matthew was a coat. and I can still remember the day that we gave it to him. He wanted it before Christmas; it was a Christmas gift. I'll never forget that day he was so appreciative and he looked so handsome in that coat.," Leidig said.
If your child needs a coat, you can stop by the Firemen's Exempts building in Brockport between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.
