Head-On Crash At I-390/I-590 Interchange

Two men were rushed to Strong Hospital after their cars were involved in a head on collision at the 390/590 interchange just before 2 a.m. Friday.
State Police say 38 year old Mario Carlenius of Rochester was driving southbound in the northbound lane of 590 approaching the 390 interchange when he struck a vehicle traveling on 390.
The driver of the second vehicle, 20 year old Stanislov Dutchak of Hilton was on his way to work when the accident occurred.
Carlenius is in guarded condition at Strong, while Dutchak is listed in satisfactory condition.
No one else was inside the cars or involved in the accident.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. 390 was reopened to traffic.
State troopers were dispatched by 911 operators at approximately 1:46 a.m. for reports of a person driving the wrong way on 590 near the Empire Boulevard exit. Troopers located the vehicle near the 490/590 interchange and unsuccessfully attempted to stop Carlenius by activating their emergency lights and sirens.
State Police say the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
