Man Pleads Guilty To Robbing Several Banks

A Syracuse man has pleaded guilty to several bank robberies, three of which happened in Gates.

Federal prosecutors say Brandon Rothenburgh, 34, got away with money from a total of five bank robberies, which span between June and August. Locally, he robbed the First Niagara Bank branch in Gates twice and the Citizens Bank branch in Gates. Rothenburgh will have to pay nearly $100,000 in restitution and surrender the Cadillac vehicle he purchased with the stolen money.

Rothenburgh faces up to 188 months in jail. He will be sentenced February 7th.
