The young Brighton man accused of murdering his former roommate was in court Monday. Maxwell Wyant, 24, is accused of shooting another young man at the house they once shared in Brighton.
The defendant came to court in a navy blazer and khakis. Wyant sat quietly as his lawyers and the prosecution decided which 12 people would decide his fate.
The judge and attorneys started whittling down a jury pool of 80 of Wyant's peers. The trial is expected to begin in the next couple of days and continue into next week.
Back in February, police found the body of 21-year-old Christopher "CJ" Schoen. Wyant and Schoen used to live together at a home on Hartfeld Street.
Police say Wyant shot and killed him after Schoen returned and they had an argument over property. Wyant pleaded not guilty.
Wyant's mother and father and one of his friends were present Monday. They did not want to comment, instead asking for privacy.
