Colonel Joseph Christiano's plane was shot down in Vietnam. He was declared missing in action in 1965. He was 41-years-old.
Joe Christiano's family was presented with a Medal of Valor from the Webster-Fairport Elks to honor his sacrifice.
"It's always an honor when my father gets acknowledged for his service, but a little broader is just the importance of serving your country, and how the people that are here who served their country especially on Veterans Day, this is a special day for us," says Joseph Christiano's son Jeff.
Christiano's remains were found earlier this year, and he was laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
