Student Run Station at Brockport Collecting Coat Donations

Updated: November 10, 2012
A student run radio station at SUNY Brockport is trying to help the needy before it gets too cold. 89.1 "The Point" held its second coats for kids drive in Brockport Saturday.

They were outside of Walmart on Main Street collecting coats and other clothing items for kids and adults. The group says it's their way of helping people prepare for the cold weather.

"There are many people in our community who may not be able to afford coats for their children or for themselves so this our way of giving back to the community, our way of collecting coats to make sure people don't freeze through the cold season," says volunteer Joe Gunther.

The station says Saturday's drive is already more successful than last year. 89.1 will have their final drive of the year November 17th in Holley, New York.
