Judge Doug Randall is presiding over the pretrial Huntley hearing which will determine if statements made by Bobbie Kugler to police investigators will be admissible at trial.
Kugler is accused of setting a fire in February at her home on Grape Street. Four of her children were killed. Kugler, her infant son and three other people escaped the home.
In court Thursday, Rochester Police investigators John Brennan, Cathy Lucci and James May testified about two recorded interviews conducted with Kugler. The first, on April 5, took place at her father's home in Poughkeepsie, shortly after Kugler returned home after a 10 day hospital stay for attempting suicide.
The second interview took place April 13 in a police car on the way back to Rochester after Kugler was arrested in Poughkeepsie. Both interviews were recorded and admitted as evidence for Judge Randall to review.
Kugler cried quietly at varying points during Thursday's hearing.
It's not clear what timetable Judge Randall will use to determine if the interviews are admissible. Kugler's trial is set to begin January 7.
