Italian Restaurant Coming to the New East Avenue Wegmans

Shoppers at Wegmans are excited about not only the new store opening on East Avenue but also something that will be housed in that new store in Rochester.

It's a special treat for Italian food lovers. The superstore will now have a full-service Italian themed restaurant.

Along with the sit-down restaurant, the store will include a Market Cafe. That's the prepared food section offered at other area Wegmans stores.
   
The specifics of the Italian restaurant aren't being released at this time, but the East Avenue Wegmans will be the first to have this type of restaurant in our area.

Shoppers, who live close by, are looking forward to the new restaurant option.

"It would be a great option to have of course. I like cooking but I like eating out once in a while but to have a place close by would be excellent for someone like me," said Darrell Donohue.

"Sounds delicious. I love Italian food. They have a lot of selection," said Ashley Gallagher.

"We need something around here, like Wegmans, that we can sit down in and something fresh. That be nice," said Nelson Quinones.

Wegmans plans on opening sometime between late spring and early summer. The old East Ave Wegmans will close for demolition eight to ten weeks before the new store opens.

The store applied for a liquor license for the Italian Restaurant. They have not heard back from the city yet.
