Democrat County Legislator Ted O'Brien is challenging Republican Assemblyman Sean Hanna. Both are vying for the seat now held by Republican Jim Alesi, who is retiring. O'Brien cast his vote Tuesday morning on Empire Boulevard in Irondequoit. The most recent Siena polls shows O'Brien with an 11 point lead over Hanna.
"We finally made it to the big day. I'm really excited, I'm feeling really good about the campaign we've run. It was great to get here and cast my ballot," O'Brien said.
Hanna cast his vote at the Mendon Fire house on Mendon Road Tuesday morning. He says voter turnout is key to who will win this race.
"Election day always brings me back to the day when I was a felony prosecutor. The trial is done, the jury is out and so is deliberating. You are always a little bit on pins and needles, but, I'm confident," Hanna said.
