It happened right around midnight at a home on Brooks Avenue. One section of the tree came down in the driveway and then the other half of the trunk came crashing down right into the top floor of the house. You can see it crushed the siding and the roof, leaving the inside of it exposed. That spot is Valerie's closet. She was sitting about six feet from where the tree came down watching a horror movie. When she heard the tree hit the driveway, she jumped up, her mother screamed and then the second one came down. She said it was very scary and she is still shaken up. Her neighbor described what it sounded like from his house, just feet away.
"I was just getting up for the day and I heard a loud crash, and the tree was down into the house," neighbor James Stuart said.
But scary as it was, passer-bys say it could be a lot worse.
"People thought it was gonna be a lot worse I don't really think so. This is the worst I've seen here in the city so I think we're blessed," Gloria Dennard said.
