At Rochester's Airport 50-percent of the flights coming or going were been cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy.

Flights coming or go from most east coast cities were affected.

Some airlines worked to get passengers on other flights, others have allowed passengers to switch for no fees.

With major hubs like New York and DC being shut down its causing a ripple effect across the country, cancelling thousands of flights.

It's unknown how long cancellations will last.

Rochester's airport director says flights to many cities west are still operating.

They ask that you check with the airline before heading to the airport.
